DESIGN COMPETITION // FRONT ROW SOCIETY - SILENCE IN KYOTO

CREATIVE BRIEF

Submission Deadline: 30 June, 2014, 6pm CET
Voting Starts: 01 July, 2014, 6pm CET

Japan is often described as a land of contradictions; where futuristic technological visions integrate almost seamlessly into a culture of strong traditions and refined simplicity. And for this month’s “Silence In Kyoto” scarves challenge, it’s time to put down the gadgets and video games and return to old Japan, with its intricate rituals and elegant minimalism.

Let your mind wander in a Zen-like atmosphere of tranquility as you explore all that is exquisite about Japanese art and culture. Picture secluded little gardens, the silence broken only by the trickle of tea being poured into delicate china cups. Imagine cherry blossom trees, scattering their petals across the paths of beautiful geisha, those icons of feminine grace and poise. Or try to follow in the footsteps of great artists like Hokusai, dexterously expressing these serene scenes of Japanese refinement with just a few perfectly considered brushstrokes.

This competition is for scarves. As always, don’t forget that your print might need to be adjusted to fit the appropriate template. All templates are marked with design specifications to help you get your design just right. Please note that all FRS templates may differ slightly from final manufacturing specifications, so make sure your print is versatile and flexible enough for production.

What can you win?

Each winner receives a one-off immediate prize of 200€ . plus one of their products when it arrives in stock.
