Editors’ Ready-to-Wear Picks
This season outerwear and sweater offerings are heavy, oversized or elongated. Dresses and skirts signal a shift in silhouette with the midi. Woven tops favor new turtleneck or bow blouses, while peasant blouses are also important. Finally, pants continue to embrace volume with culottes and wide leg pants.
OUTERWEAR - FLOOR DUSTER
Dusters are relevant to both outerwear and sweaters this season. Most influential are floor duster coats, which feature extra long lengths and sometimes oversized shapes. Select styles feature blanket styling with aspects like asymmetric hems, belts and shawl collars.
TOPS - PEASANT BLOUSE
The peasant blouse is a must-have especially for the young contemporary market that may be slower to adapt the more forward style of woven turtlenecks. With a strong relevance to bohemian looks, design updates include full sleeves, keyhole or high necks and tie or ruffle front details.
SWEATERS AND KNITS - TURTLENECK
The turtleneck is a classic style that dominates the sweater classification this season. Appealing to both womenswear and young contemporary stories, turtlenecks veer either slim/fitted or more relaxed with oversized shapes and extra long sleeves.
DRESSES - BOHO MAXI
The boho maxi makes a triumphant return to the dress classification thanks to romantic and bohemian references. Diaphanous materials are a must on flowing silhouettes, while new updates to consider include peasant sleeves, high necklines and dramatic side slits.
SKIRTS - MIDI SKIRT
Mid-calf shapes are a defining silhouette of the season, with the midi skirt as the number one must-have. It branches out into two directions - fuller dirndl styles, as well as slim midis. Widespread applications in womenswear are featured, as well as options for the young contemporary market. Fuller styles favor high waists, and pleats, while slim shapes are a match for slits and wrap construction.
PANTS - CULOTTES
Culottes have evolved from shants - short pants - in previous seasons. Culottes are a bit shorter compared to cropped wide leg styles, and they apply to various looks from minimalist to preppy. Below the knee lengths are essential, while design details may include wrap waistlines, flat fronts and cuffed hems. Knit styles are also featured.
